The INREV Guidelines Consultation is underway, with a focus on reviewing and enhancing the existing framework to keep it robust and practical. This module has been a trusted industry standard for over a decade, and the review process considers emerging trends such as growing operational real estate investments.
Operational real estate strategies are gaining prominence, and reporting expectations are growing. INREV’s next step is to assess how operational real estate considerations can be more systematically integrated into the Guidelines, with the goal of supporting investor confidence through enhanced transparency and governance guidance.
The Due Diligence Questionnaire remains one of INREV’s most widely used templates, providing a standardized framework for efficient and consistent investor due diligence. The update streamlines the questionnaire, incorporating emerging topics such as operational real estate investing, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence.

A six-week industry consultation will take place from early September to late October 2026, with members requested to provide feedback at a company level. There are three different ways to provide company views and participate in the dialogue: filling out online forms, participating in in-person roundtable events in Amsterdam, Luxembourg, and London, or watching an online briefing recording.
Investors, investment managers, service providers, and other finance professionals are encouraged to participate in the consultation, including members of boards and independent directors. They have extended the deadline for responses to 30 October 2026, allowing companies to provide thoughtful and considered feedback on the proposed revisions.
The revised Guidelines will provide updated guidance on operational real estate investments, cybersecurity, and artificial intelligence. INREV expects the revised Guidelines to be published after the consultation process is complete.
